DECALS, 48' 6" BULKHEAD FLAT CAR 60400 to 60424

Great Northern supplied bulkhead flat cars for transportation of lumber, plywood, wallboard, aluminum ingots, pipe, pilings, telephone poles, and granite blocks.

These 48’ 6” inside length bulkhead flat cars were built by General Steel Industries using their cast steel bodies in 1966. Length over the strikers was 53’ 8”. They were equipped with 10” FreightMaster end of car cushion devices and were designed to haul wallboard, which was wrapped in plastic sheets during transport.

Capacity was 146,000 pounds.

Body color was glacier green.
