Water car/auxiliary tender
This RARE model represents Great Northern water cars X-3245 (formerly X-1945, built 1944 under AFE 67644) and possibly others. Some of these cars were also used as auxiliary tenders.
The model is a RARE Oriental Limited item that has not been painted. HO scale.
In Steam Locomotives of the Great Northern Railway, page 462, authors Middleton and Priebe report that as early as 1925 GN began to transfer steam engine tenders to the water car fleet. That year 21 small older tenders having water capacity of 2500 to 3500 gallons (in addition to coal or oil bunkers) were transferred to maintenance service and renumbered into the 296025 to 296075 series, with the full carbody being devoted to water. By 1927 they were part of the X1900 series. We believe that this model may also represent some of these cars.
