Great Northern supplied bulkhead flat cars for transportation of lumber, plywood, wallboard, aluminum ingots, pipe, pilings, telephone poles, and granite blocks.

These 48’ 9” inside length bulkhead flat cars were built by Great Northern in 1960 using General Steel Industries cast steel bodies. Length over the strikers was 54’ 2”. This was the last lot of GN built bulkhead flat cars. They were built with relatively short 6’ 6” high bulkhead. Later, three random cars received 2’ 6” bulkhead extensions making them 9 feet high.

Capacity was 100,000 pounds.

Body color was vermillion red.
