We now offer the 24x48 'old style' depot in both left handed and right handed versions. Right handed means that the passenger waiting room is on the right end of the building as viewed from the track side. Left handed means that the waiting room is on the left.
The Great Northern selected 'handedness' based on which side it expected people to approach the depot from, placing the waiting room on that side of the structure.
Just curious if there’s a list anywhere of which style of depot existed in a particular town on the GN? My wife grew-up in Foley, MN; her grandfather Fred Youso, was GN Section Foreman there in the 1940’s- early ’50’s. Would be a nice addition to my layout.
